This is a guide aimed at holiday makers planning or booking a self-catering skiing holiday in the Alps. It is divided into four sections covering France, Switzerland, Italy and Austria with details on what can be found in the local shops, and what regional specialities to look out for. Included also is information on local wines and other drinks and a section on eating out which describes typical local dishes as well as giving recipes for some of them. The recipes are simple to prepare and concentrate mainly on one-pot dishes which just need pasta, potatoes or bread as an accompaniment. There is a reference section on how to shop in another language, with translation guides to different foodstuffs provided in the individual country sections. Throughout, recipes include imperial equivalents of metric measurements.
