The Old Man and the Tree

The Old Man and the Tree

by Alison Wisenfeld (Illustrator), Alison Wisenfeld (Illustrator), Vicki Wisenfeld (Author)

Synopsis

Willow tree stumps and even woven willow baskets have the remarkable ability to sprout after years of remaining dormant. This strange fact gave birth to this story. Old Walter works wonders with the wood from his willow tree, weaving and crafting all manner of things. And, as pollarded willows do, the tree regrows, sprouting new shoots- as long as its wood is used well. One week disaster strikes, for Walter's customers misuse their wares and are selfish, thoughtless and proud. For the first time, the branches of the willow tree wither and die. So Walter sets out to put things right. A delightful tale about responsibility, treating others well, loving and forgiveness.
