Areal treat . . . built to withstand endless reading and re-reading. . . . [The] narrative is dramatic and poetic by turns. The illustrations, by Helen Cann, are beautiful and fresh. Church Times
This superb retelling . . . smoothly weaves together a memorable, extensive narrative. . . . Filled with expressive action, the glowing, folk-art watercolors are arranged around the crisp, easily readable text. . . . Although there are many fine Bible-story collections, this is a worthy addition to the genre. --School Library Journal
Watts' retellings from the Old and New Testaments are vivid and evocative, introducing young readers to the mystery and wonder of this great book. . . . Marvelous stories to rival any edge-of-the-seat video. --Booklist
