Bob Hartman has a growing reputation as a storyteller who can capture children's imagination and keep them spellbound. In this collection of stories based on traditional folk tales from around the world, he blends familiar stories with little-known tales. Each has been chosen for its integrity or ability to say something positive to children who are learning to understand the world around them. The result is a captivating anthology reflecting the storyteller's humour and joy of life, both of which are echoed in Susie Poole's bold watercolour illustrations. 'A good introduction to the cultural heritage of many nations for younger children in stories adapted by a traditional story teller.' - David Blanch, Carousel
