The Ghosts of Blacklode

The Ghosts of Blacklode

by Gordon John (Author)

Synopsis

A thrilling and intriguing ghost story by a master of the genre. Written over four hundred years ago by the murdered young master of Blacklode Hall, Randal's Pledge is said to contain clues to the whereabouts of his hidden fortune. But it's a more contemporary mystery that's concerning Bill Brock - namely Charlotte Brundish. Angry and aloof, she seems to have no interest in Bill, until a chance meeting in town and the discovery of a magical amulet throws the two together in a way they'd never have imagined. Danger stalks them, though, in the shape of the sinister, unscrupulous Mrs Gosse. She's on the trail of Randal's treasure too, and is prepared to summon the Hound, a terrifying supernatural mandog, to make sure she gets it...

Media Reviews
What a chilling read. No one writes about the fens in winter quite as John Gordon does. The menace is in the very landscape. Jan Mark; One of our best contemporary writers. The Bookseller; John Gordon's books deserve much wider readership and recognition. The Guardian
