Synopsis

Mimi lives with all her brothers and sisters beneath the big tree, and it's blackberry time in the hedge. Mimi decides to make some delicious blackberry pies and everyone offers to help, but their efforts hardly bear any fruit at all, and they turn out to be far more helpful at eating the pies.

Martin Waddell is widely regarded as one of the finest contemporary writers of books for young people. Twice winner of the Smarties Book Prize - for Farmer Duck and Can't You Sleep, Little Bear? - he also won the Kurt Maschler Award for The Park in the Dark and the Best Books for Babies Award for Rosie's Babies. Among his many other titles are Owl Babies; Night Night, Cuddly Bear; A Kitten Called Moonlight; Once There Were Giants; Tom Rabbit; The Tale of Webster J. Duck and three other stories about Mimi; Mimi's Christmas, Mimi and the Dream House and Mimi and the Picnic. He was the Irish nominee for the 2000 Hans Christian Andersen Author Award. Leo Hartas has been drawing for most of his life and has illustrated numerous books for children, including several other books about Mimi and her mouse family such as Mimi's Christmas, Mimi and the Picnic and Mimi and the Dream House. Leo began illustrating fantasy gamebooks in 1983, some of which take almost two years to complete because they are so detailed. He says of his work, All I have ever done has been because I enjoy it myself - but I'm delighted to find children enjoy it too! Leo lives in Brighton.
