by Martha Alexander (Author)
A story about a small boy and his magic bear friend. Anthony has a special friend - a large bear that he's chalked on his blackboard and who comes to life magically when Anthony needs him. One night Anthony asks his Dad if they can build a spaceship and go to the moon - but Anthony's dad says he doesn't know how to. Blackboard Bear does though. That night he draws spaceship parts on the blackboard and then takes them outside with Anthony to put the spaceship together. When the spaceship is made, though, Anthony starts to get cold feet. What if they get lost? The moon looks cold; there might not be any food or water there. What if there are monsters? In the end, Blackboard Bear goes off alone and Anthony goes back to bed...The last thing we see is Blackboard Bear returning at sunrise and leaving a star on Anthony's bed before returning to his blackboard.
