by Craig Helen (Author), Hayes Sarah (Author)
This is the third title in the "This is the Bear" series. The boy and his bear go everywhere together. But one day, the boy leaves his friend behind in the park. Night falls and an owl swoops and carries the bear off into the dark sky - then drops him in the pond, where he floats all night. Next morning, he's rescued by a man with a slide trombone, who takes him home and wraps him in a warm sweater. Later on, back in the park, the boy and the bear are happily reunited. Sarah Hayes has also written "This is the Bear", "This is the Bear and the Picnic Lunch", "Mary Mary", "Crumbling Castle", "Eat Up, Gemma", "The Grumpalump", "Robin Hood", "Nine Ducks Nine" and "The Cats of Tiffany Street". Helen Craig has previously illustrated the "Angelina Ballerina" books, the "Susie and Alfred" series, the "This is the Bear" series, "The Yellow House", "The Stone Mouse" (shortlisted for the 1992 Smarties book Prize), "Mary Mary" and "Crumbling Castle".
