Brenda is very attached to her bear Pete and very upset when she leaves him on the bus and loses him. Then after a couple of days, something very strange happens - she starts to receive postcards from Pete, from all over the world. London, Paris, Venice, Moscow, Nairobi, Cairo, Tangier, Beijing, the Amazon Jungle and the Grand Canyon. Pete visits them all, sending cards, on each of which he says how much he is missing Brenda. Then one day there is no card, but a small brown parcel - and inside is Pete. Dyan Sheldon's children's titles include the Kate Greenaway Medal winner The Whale's Song , as well as I Forgot , Love Your Bear Pete , Skywatching , Tall, Thin and Blonde , Harry and Chicken , Harry the Explorer and Harry's Holiday . Tanya Hurt-Newton was highly commended for the 1991 Macmillan Book Prize.
