Inclusion Through Sports

Inclusion Through Sports

by RobertW.Davis (Author)

Synopsis

This practical book offers new ideas for teaching students with disabilities in their general physical education class. By using disability sport as a mechanism for instruction, professionals with limited experience in Adapted PE should be able to run fully inclusive PE classes. This book is unique in that it moves beyond other disability sports books, by explaining how each disability sport is played and how these sports can be included in their daily teaching routine. Practical games, activities and modifications are included in order to enable students with disabilities to take part and excel in general physical education classes. Additional information about wheelchair mobility and wheelchair selection is also included. The book shows the general physical teacher how they can include students with and without disabilities in their PE classes, as well as helping expand their current curriculum.
