Steady Now Doctor

Steady Now Doctor

by RobertClifford (Author)

Synopsis

Novel about comedy, pathos and tragedy. Steady Now Doctor by Dr Robert Clifford, is a novel, as opposed to the nine autobiographical books of his Doctor series. He achieves the same balance of comedy, pathos and tragedy as he did in the Doctor series. We follow the life of Andy Howard through the ups and downs of school days, an heroic bicycle ride to Blackpool, warring parents and success and failure at Rugby. This is followed by his life as a house surgeon with medical and personal dramas, seduction, violence and eventually sweet, true love and marriage. As in his Doctor series, Dr Clifford writes with a great sense of humour, and a rare insight and humanity.

Media Reviews
JUST HERE DOCTOR by Graham Lord in the Sunday Express. Doctor Clifford's delightful book is not only crammed with odd characters and anecdotes, but is also written with bubbling warmth, an invigorating love of life, a hilarious sense of humour and a rare insight and humanity. LOOK OUT, DOCTOR by the late John Braine author of Room At The Top etc. in The Spectator. Dr Clifford is never likely to win any literary prizes. But his work does have one quality which is found only in the greatest writers. It has serenity, its judgements are clear-cut. Literature, not being a pure art, is ultimately based on morals. No matter on what level, it has to strive to ensure that all will be well. And all manner of things will be well.
