A brief text is given for the parent to read aloud and the child reads a simple phrase or sentence using either key words or context related words which are illustrated to assist them. The series links with the Ladybird reading schemes and the supplementary readers Read it yourself . The series extends the successful formula behind Read it Yourself , where traditional familiar stories are used to encourage children to learn to read. In the Read Together series traditional songs and playground rhymes are used. This series of supplementary pre-readers can be used in conjunction with any other reading scheme and fits into the Ladybird reading range.
