This French course aims to meet the needs of lower ability students aged 14 plus, for whom a modern language is compulsory for the first time under the National Curriculum. It relates to Level 6 in National Curriculum Key Stage 4, TVEE students in schools or post-16 BTEC. By changing the focus from traditional school language course themes to vocational ones, and by including BTEC-type a well as GCSE-type tasks, the authors have produced a course in tune with the new situation in learning modern languages beyond 1992. The course consists of two Pupils' books, two Teaching and Assessment Resource books and two cassettes. Each chapter is divided into a series of units which start with a list of objectives, and the Teaching and Assessment Resource Book has photocopiable check lists of objectives achieved for the student and teacher to complete, so that these can become part of the student's record of achievement. The Teaching and Assessment Resource books include teaching notes, explaining the basis of the introduction and revision of language points, listening scripts for the cassettes, and photocopiable resources including record of achievement sheets, a complete vocabulary, GCSE-type further tasks, and BTEC-type modular assignments.
