Using the same system of star ratings, to allow you to pick out the key attractions, he describes the architecture of the country's finest buildings county by county. Jenkins' prose style is a delight - concise, erudite and often wryly amusing, he really makes the monuments come alive. Liberally illustrated with colour photography, the book makes you want to get out there and visit the places it describes right away, and it can't really succeed any more than that.
