Synopsis

Buffalo Bert is an unusual grandad - people tell him to act his age and have a snowy beard and spend his time snoozing in an armchair, but he'd much rather wear cowboy gear and sing fantastic songs, accompanied by his guitar. It isn't a problem until his grandchld, Sunny, starts at a new school and meets a new crowd of friends. Suddenly, Bert becomes a huge embarrassment. Can Sunny stay loyal to Buffalo Bert and still fit in with the gang?

Book Overview: Michaela Morgan is a high-profile children's author who regularly contributes to school book weeks, INSET courses and conferences. Children in early primary school will be encountering peer group pressure and are very likely to identify with Sunny's dilemma. Sunny could be either male or female, which gives the story even wider appeal and could act a discussion point in families and in the classroom. Part of the specialliy-commissioned White Wolves fiction range for 7-11 year olds, written in consultation with the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education. Each year group will have three stand-alone titles and accompanying Teachers' Guides to support guided reading lessons in the classroom.
