Peter Utton lives in Cambridgeshire and has three teenage sons. His first picture book, The Witch's Hand, was runner-up for the prestigious Mother Goose Award for illustration in 1990 and also won a major prize in Austria. Sssh!, written by Sally Grindley, won the Smarties Prize in 1992. In addition, he has illustrated several popular anthologies.
