This is one of a series of books in which children visit locations, in this case a reconstructed Tudor farmhouse, and, using evidence they find, recreate the everyday life of the people who lived in these places during their heyday. The books include a time-line describing the important events of the period and showing how the location itself changed over time to the present day. In specially commissioned photographs children are shown exploring the locations, handling artefacts and experimenting with reconstruction using such things as clothes and cooking utensils. In this book they discover evidence that shows them how the Tudors grew, preserved and cooked their own food, what they wore and how they built, furnished, lit and heated their homes.
