  Geraldine Stott has written an introduction to a variety of lacemaking techniques. The emphasis in the book is on Torchon, Bedfordshire and Braided and Modern laces. One section is devoted to the basic differences between types of lace. Throughout the book the reader is guided through a series of projects with the aid of step-by-step instructions, prickings and photographs. Colour coding is used to assist the reader: red for wholestitch and blue for halfstitch. The work is a progressive complete lacemaking course for beginners and intermediate lacemakers. Geraldine Stott is also the author of A Visual Introduction to Bucks Point Lace , Introduction to Bobbin Lace Stitches and 100 traditional Bobbin Lace Patterns .
