by Christine Jones (Author), Christine Jones (Author), Val Paul (Author)

Synopsis

In order to study the complexities of accommodation management in real world working situations, the authors have adopted a systems approach identified by five main sub-systems. These are the building, housekeeping services, personnel control, purchases and supplies and the client and the front office. It is stressed that when considering accommodation management, in various enterprises including hotels, hospitals, halls of residence, conference centres and leisure centres and the possible functions of the Accommodation Manager are categorized within the overall system of accommodation management. The aim is to illustrate methods and programmes of organization which are based not only on sound management theory, but also on the realities of the work situation. This text is designed to meet the needs of management students taking Higher TEC, HCIMA (Part B), and graduate entry, Ordinary and Honours degree courses, especially those concerned with the hotel and catering industry and institutional management. It should also be of value for management training and reference.
