The Professional Practice of Design

The Professional Practice of Design

by Dorothy Goslett (Author)

Synopsis

This book is a guide to the professional practice of design administration. The book is divided into two parts. The first is mainly for students, tutors and lecturers; the second for the practising freelance designer. There is a degree of overlap so that both the student and designer will find useful information in the complete volume. The chapters in Part One deal with writing business letters, being briefed, writing letters about fees, estimating fees, progressing work, simple report writing, contracting for a client, invoicing and finishing work. Part Two deals with setting up a design office, a budget for the first year, finding clients, running the office, fee problems, survey reports, interior design and exhibition contracting for a client. The book also contains a list of organizations concerned with design.
