by JulianHalsby (Author)
In this account of Scotland's tradition of watercolour painting, the author discusses every stage of the development of the Scottish School. It does not only cover widely-known names such as Wilkie or Roberts, but also those such as Allan, McTaggart and Giles, only recently known. The reader is led from the early work of Robert Adam in the 1740's through to the 19th century, the Pre-Raphaelite influence, the Glasgow School, art nouveau and Symbolism, and the artists of the later-war years. Julian Halsby, formerly a lecturer in art history, has for many years specialized in 19th century British watercolours.
