The Malvern Hills

The Malvern Hills

by Mike Smart (Author)

Synopsis

The Malvern Hills, an official Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, have fired the imagination of painters, poets, writers, composers and scientists for many years. And the area has not lost any of its power to surprise, charm and thrill. The Malverns run almost directly north-south along the Herefordshire-Worcestershire border, dipping into Gloucestershire at its southern most end. The special quality of the Malverns lies in the contrasts. They make up an easily identifiable narrow ridge that thrust above the patchwork farmland of the Severn Vale 600 million years ago, producing a mountain range in miniature. Mike Smart's collection of photographs capture the spirit of these hills.

Media Reviews
Certainly one of the most impressive coffee table books I have ever seen. Worcester News One can almost feel the wind in the pictures of stunted trees, the stillness in the sunsets over the ridge, and the warmth in the green summer scenes. If you enjoy walking in the Malverns then you will also enjoy the pictorial journey provided by this book. Strider Mike Smart's collection of photographs capture the spirit of these hills and the beauty that lies in their contrasts. They might only be seven miles in length and the highest point is only 1400' but their moods are endless as this volume of stimulating images shows. Grange Now! This beautiful book is a visual delight and will make readers want to put on their hiking boots and head for the hills! Worcestershire Life
