Royal Horticultural Society Diary 2005

by RoyalHorticulturalSociety (Author)

Synopsis

The RHS diary and address book for 2005 are illustrated with Caroline Maria Applebee's beautiful drawings of flowers, both cultivated garden plants and wild flowers found in fields and hedgerows, made between 1808 and 1852. An accomplished artist, but unknown during her lifetime, Applebee belongs to a tradition of nineteenth-century women flower painters who, by documenting their local flora, provide a standard for comparison with the flora of the present, thus helping current studies of local biodiversity. Each week features a full-page colour illustration and the diary includes the dates of all the RHS Flower Shows as well as national and religious holidays and astronomical information.
