  This is the 28th edition of Railway Restored to be published and will feature any new schemes which have opened since the previous edition was published and details of any which are no longer running or open to the public. It is hoped that it will also include a larger selection of miniature railways then previous editions. One noteable feature of the preservation movement in Britain which is reflected in the book is that the number of locomotives in preservation is continuing to grow. This is largely due to the number of first and second generation diesel locomotives which are being saved from scrap. In addition, in the past year many additional DMUs, DEMUs and even vehicles from withdrawn third rail electric units have been saved from scrap by Britain's busy preservations.
