Synopsis

First published in 1993 and immensely successful every year thereafter, Aerofilms Guide: Football Grounds has undoubtedly become, for many supporters, an indispensable reference to away matches. This tenth edition has again been fully revised and includes information on the many ground alterations that have been completed over the last 12 months. Although it is more than a decade since the Taylor Report led to a radical rethink of facilities at British sporting venues, the changes to football grounds continue to appear thick and fast. Among developments included in the new edition...- Dean Court (Bournemouth) - Deepdale (Preston North End) - Portman Road (Ipswich Town - Bloomfield Road (Blackpool) - The Valley (Charlton Athletic) - The Hawthorns (West Bromwich Albion) - Adams Park (Wycombe Wanderers) - Upton Park (West Ham United). In addition, the new champions of the Football Conference will bring another new ground into the Football League; whether it is Boston United or Dagenham & Redbridge, there will be a new challenge for the many 'ground hoppers' at the start of the 2002/3 season. The new season will also witness two clubs - Darlington and Leicester City - relocating to new grounds. The latter replaces Filbert Street, one of the smallest grounds in the Premiership or First Division. In the future, further new grounds are proposed at a number of locations - including Arsenal, Coventry City, Everton, Liverpool, Manchester City, Swansea City and Tottenham Hotspur - that will see many familiar ground disappear. As before, the book includes an aerial photomap of each ground allowing the reader to locate the stadium in relation to the surrounding streets and public transport facilities. Detailed information is also provided about telephone numbers, addresses, parking and much else. In order to make the book even more 'user-friendly' to visiting fans, the new edition again includes plans of the actual grounds, identifying blocks and disabled facilities and these have again been updated in the light of changes over the past season. The entertaining sketch of each club's season has been retained by popular demand. The Aerofilms Company has been undertaking aerial photography of the British Isles since 1919 and over the past 80 years the company has built up both an impressive archive of historical material and a reputation second to none for the quality of their photographic work.
