Synopsis

Outwardly a grieving young Victorian widow, Charlotte Richmond is concealing some scandalous secrets when she arrives at Finchbourne Manor to start a respectable new life with her husband's family.The wealthy Richmonds must never discover that her husband Frampton's recent death in the Indian Mutiny came as a great relief to Charlotte. Nicola Slade had her first short stories published in her twenties and wrote for children and women's magazines for a number of years. Her first novel, Scuba Dancing, was a romantic comedy. With Murder Most Welcome she has turned to historical crime. Besides writing, Nicola is an artist, and helps run a local art group. She has also been a brown owl and an antiques dealer. Nicola lives with her husband in Hampshire with their elderly cat. Their three children live nearby with their families.
