  Florence's hot pies are sold from the aptly named Paradise Pie shop. They are legendary, not only with the tramcar operator but also the hard-up and hungry during the Depression years. Warm-hearted Florence is the mainstay at home too. In her mainly female household, there also lives Manny, a casualty of the First World War who is now working as Florence's assistant.
