Sergeant Simpson's Sacrifice

Sergeant Simpson's Sacrifice

by NicholasRhea (Author)

Synopsis

Like so many police officers, it was the ambition of Dick Simpson, a uniformed town patrol sergeant, to investigate a murder case. As he approached the end of his career it seemed unlikely his wish would be fulfilled. However, with the discovery of a murder victim in the local park, Sergeant Simpson is pitched headlong into Hildenley's first murder investigation. The dead man was a known rapist and suspected murderer, but as the inquiries intensify Simpson's son becomes prime suspect. With a lack of evidence against the lad, Sergeant Simpson faces the likelihood that a deep family secret could be revealed as he himself falls under suspicion. Meanwhile, the officer in charge of the inquiry boasts a 100 per cent detection rate for murder, and has no intention of allowing that record to be ruined by an unsolved case. To protect his family, Sergeant Simpson must now make a remarkable sacrifice.

Media Reviews
'Stories of a constable on his village beat in North Yorkshire. All very gentle and far, far removed from the hurly burly of modern day city policing.' Daily Telegraph 'A fascinating insight into the life of a rural constable... the book makes splendid reading.' Police Journal 'Rhea's real strengths are his sharp portraits of people. The best humour comes from the author's close understanding and affectionate portrayals of the character of Yorkshire country folk.' Northern Echo 'An account of the hilarious happenings to the county's rural policemen over the years.' Yorkshire Post 'Filled with Yorkshire characters to make you laugh and cry... shows life through the eyes of a village bobby.' Whitby Gazette 'Nicholas Rhea is doing for the North Yorkshire Police what James Herriot did for the North Yorkshire vets... another delightful, simple tale of everyday life in Aidensfield from Constable Nick.' Driffield Post 'Rhea's real strengths are his sharp portraits of people. The best humour comes from the author's close understanding and affectionate portrayals of the character of Yorkshire country folk.' Northern Echo
