An Enchanted Place

An Enchanted Place

by Annie Marks (Author)

Synopsis

It is 1942 and Tremar is at war. Four years after returning to normal life from almost twenty-four years in the county asylum, Julia now has to cope with the blunt reality of conflict, because Tremar is a convalescent home for officers for the duration of the war. In the beginning everything is fine: Julia has both her beloved husband Matt and the beautiful Annie for whom she and Matt committed murder. But Annie has taken a shine to a heavily disfigured young airman and Julia harbours grave suspicions about his family. Meanwhile, breaking into the tranquillity of Tremar is the arrival of dreadfully injured Oliver Crompton who loved her so destructively in 1938. Accompanying him are his embittered wife and two bewildered children. Much must be resolved before peace can finally return to Tremar.

Author Bio
Annie Marks was born in Twickenham and developed her taste for history at an early age by being lucky enough to attend primary school within Hampton Court Palace, where history lessons were simply walking in the corridors and State apartments. In 1970 she moved to the Isle of Wight, but her spiritual home is the West Country, particularly the moors of Devon and Cornwall, where she plans to retire. She is married and has two grown-up sons. Robert Hale also published her previous novel Daughter of Tremar.
