Author Bio
The author, Maurice Lindsay, was born and brought up in Glasgow, and is familiar with its people having spent much of his life in the city and its environs. He is one of Scotland's best known poets and has written for Scottish newspapers as both music and theatre critic. He was the first director of the Scottish Civic Trust and honorary secretary-general of Europa Nostra. As a former executive of one of the independent television companies serving Scotland, he is also keenly aware of its visual glories. His many previous books include The Burns Encyclopaedia; Robert Burns: The Man, His Work, The Legend and The Burns Quotation Book (with Joyce Lindsay), all published by Robert Hale.
