Dorneywood House, which is the gift of the Prime Minister for one of the secretaries of state, lies in Buckinghamshire to the west of Slough. This book traces the history of the property from Anglo-Saxon times, when it was part of the Dorney estate. The estate contained a broad tract of land stretching from the Thames to Burnham Beeches, an area now largely covered by the M4 and the sprawl of Burnham. The philanthropist, Sir Courtauld Thomson, gave it to the nation in 1943. This book traces the history of the house as well as including an account of the donor.
