The latest edition of this popular book has been fully revised and updated to cover all the latest aspects of clinical cardiology. Compact, but not condensed, Cardiology provides the most essential guide to clinical cardiology for undergraduate and postgraduate students. In its original conception, this book was intended as an introductory text for medical students. It has subsequently achieved a much wider readership, including nurses, junior hospital doctors preparing for membership and general practitioners. The book has in addition achieved an international audience, reaching countries with differing disease profiles and a range of healthcare provision. We have endeavored to retain the characteristics necessary to interest the diverse readership. Coverage of the traditional aspects of cardiology is included, but recent diagnostic and therapeutic developments also have their place. It has been extended to include recent technological developments in the fields of angioplasty and electrophysiology. The management of acute myocardial infarction has been revised and extended to take account of the recent rapid developments in this field.

An excellent book overall: easy-to-read but not compromising on detail. The book gave a good outline of the principles behind the management of most cardiological problems. The diagrams were highly informative but simple to follow and explained the main concepts well. The sections on cardiac pacing and echocardiography were particularly useful as they are often skimmed over in general medical texts. A 'must buy' for any doctor or medical student about to start on a cardiology firm for the first time or with an interest in cardiology. BMA Awards 2005 Cardiology, the 8th Edition...is definitely one of the more readable textbooks and is very well laid out making it easy to read and understand the rather complicated concepts it tries to convey...The content of the book is incredible. MAD magazine, the official journal of Barts and The London Students'Association Each chapter is easy to read and updating knowledge can be done very rapidly, aided by the design of the chapters which are subdivided into smaller easy to read paragraphs. These break the text up so the reader is not daunted by page upon page of writing. For those who find any text difficult, there are a large number of pictures (ECGs, angiograms etc) along with frequent use of tables using the 'surgical sieve'as an aide-memoir. Univadis medical website After having read Cardiology you feel that you have been in good hands from start to finish. An up-to-date book which is very well written indeed and covers everything! The book is not expensive either which is always a major plus. It sounds like the obvious choice for everyone.
