Although breast care is a wide remit, the information in this book aims to be clear and readable for the more junior nurses yet contain enough factual detail to be useful to the more experienced nurse. There is a chapter for each of the aspects of breast care so that the enquiring nurse can access the relevant subject. The chapters stand alone, but have some common themes running through them, including illustrative case histories, practical nursing care, psychological and social care and appropriate complimentary therapies. The book is woman centred and about holistic care, rather than compartmentalizing care for each breast condition. This reflects the theme of total care that the hospital and the community should offer the woman who suffers from a breast condition. Care for such women does not just begin and end in hospital, but rather it is ongoing, and the book highlights this. Above all, the book is positive about breast care, especially breast cancer.
