Tail-End Charlies: The Last Battles of the Bomber War 1944-45

by John Nichol (Author), Tony Rennell (Author)

Synopsis

Night after night, they stifled their fears and flew through flak and packs of enemy fighters to drop the bombs that could demolish Hitler and bring the war to a speedy end. Tens of thousands never came back, blown up in an instant or baling out from burning aircraft to drop helplessly into enemy hands. Yet history has turned its back on them - denouncing them for the destruction of German cities rather than acknowledging them as the heroes they were. For the first time, John Nichol and Tony Rennell tell the story of the controversial last battles of Bomber Command through the eyes of the brave men who fought them.
