Synopsis

The Objective Structured Clinical Examination is known by the acronym OSCE. This examination is becoming increasingly popular in medical schools and postgraduate colleges throughout the world. Although initially intended for the DRCOG, the book also covers the required standards for medical students and other postgraduate examinations in different parts of the world.The book will aim to test the candidate's competence in history taking and physical examination; factual knowledge; interpretation of laboratory reports; recognition of pathological conditions (from photographs and presented symptoms and signs); ability to formulate differential diagnosis; counseling; clinical problem solving; prescribing for given conditions and adverse drug effects. Most of the questions involve a clinical scenario including photographs of various pathologies, instruments and laboratory reports, X-rays and charts (antenatal, labour partograms and infant charts). The answers appear at the end of each section.
