Health Visiting: Towards Community Health Nursing

Health Visiting: Towards Community Health Nursing

by Karen A. Luker (Editor), Jean Orr (Editor)

Synopsis

The first edition of Health Visiting was published in 1985 and quickly became established as the leading textbook in the field. Since then, the principles of health visiting practice have, in part, been assimilated into other branches of community health nursing. The second edition has been comprehensively updated to meet the strong emphasis placed on community health in Project 2000 diploma courses and post-registration education. The scope of the book has therefore been broadened to include all nurses who require the specialist skills and knowledge to work in the community. New chapters include an introduction to the implications for the profession of the National Health Service and Community Care Act (1990), and an evaluation of the role of information and information technology in community health nursing. This book is essential reading for all nurses working in the community, and students undertaking diploma and degree level options in health visiting and community health nursing.
