Counselling Drug Users About HIV and AIDS

Counselling Drug Users About HIV and AIDS

by G . Mulleady (Author)

Synopsis

It has been projected that in the next few years injecting drug users will become the major group with HIV and AIDS. Already in North America and Europe, injecting drug users form the majority of new AIDS cases. Amongst this group the effects of HIV and AIDS are exacerbated due to social problems associated with drug users' lifestyles and so far most of the work on HIV counselling has not addressed the issues that are specific to the drug using population. This book attempts to address these issues by detailing risk assessment techniques and a counselling approach for drug workers and people who will come into contact with injecting drug users in the course of their work.
