Soft Tissue Injuries in Sport

Soft Tissue Injuries in Sport

by LACHMAN (Author)

Synopsis

This handbook is intended for those engaged in treating soft-tissue sports injuries. Divided into two sections, the first section of the book gives an account of the structure of the soft tissues and of the processes of inflammation and repair following trauma. The effect of various methods of treatment, particularly physiotherapy, on these processes is then given and this section also includes a general account of the reactions of different tissues, e. g. muscle, ligaments and tendons, to trauma and the result of treatment. The second section is more specific and contains an account of the manifestations, diagnosis and treatment of particular injuries by body part. This book is illustrated with line drawings and differs from most books on the subject in that it takes a non-surgical approach, dealing mainly with physiotherapy, the optional management for most soft tissue injuries.
