His numerous publications include: Shakespeare and the Shapes of Time (1982), Staging the Renaissance: Reinterpretations of Elizabethan and Stuart Drama (1991), Critical Essays on Shakespeare's Hamlet (1995), and Shakespeare After Theory (1999).
