Book Overview: Matthew Hervey lays siege to the grim fortress of Bhurtpore

Media Reviews
Allan Mallinson gets better and better with his novels about Matthew Hervey and the Light Dragoons. The characters are very well observed, the stories first class and all are packed with action. In his latest, the year is 1824 and the place India. The Burmese are encroaching on company land and in Bhurtpoor the rightful claimant to the throne has been forced out by one Duryan Sal. It all looks very bad, and will undoubtedly test Hervey and his newly blooded troops to the limit. Duryan Sal has taken refuge in the fortress of Bhurtpoor and must be routed. This latest novel will delight his many fans and increase the readership, I feel certain. A superb tale.
