  This illustrated text is part of a two volume introductory course for students taking craft, design and technology (CDT) in the lower secondary school. It incorporates a problem-solving, design-based approach, developed through a wide range of projects in the main areas of technology. Each project area contains a range of projects for pupils to tackle, working from worked examples through to open-ended design briefs. The illustrations provide examples of applications of design and technology. This study aims to provide a foundation for student going on to CDT examinations at GCSE level, as well as those taking the technology element of TVEI courses.
