A Student's AutoCAD

A Student's AutoCAD

by A . Yarwood (Author)

Synopsis

This book is intended for use by those who wish to learn how to produce technical drawings with the aid of the computer software package AutoCAD. AutoCAD is a software package with a host of facilities, some of which are not discussed in this book. This book however contains sufficient information on how to use AutoCAD for producing technical drawings to satisfy the requirements of students in the upper forms of schools and in further and in higher education. It should also be a valuable text for those in industry new to CAD and who wish to learn how to use and familiarize themselves with AutoCAD. AutoCAD is a complex drawing and design tool. Because of this, no attempt is made within the pages of this book to describe its more advanced facilities. For example the host of variables which can be set by entering the setvar command system are not described; the use of macros to speed up some of the processes of drawing with the software is not included. There is however, sufficient information and exercise material to enable students to undertake the production of complicated technical drawings of an advanced nature. Work discs are available containing approximately 50 starter drawings for the exercises from this book in AutoCAD drawing file form. The drawing files can be loaded into the AutoCAD drawing editor. The discs are suitable for loading into AutoCAD version 10, or later. The computer must be an IBM compatible PC with MS.DOS, equipped with a suitable coprocessor and have at least 640 kilobyte of RAM.
