Synopsis

Steven and Stella are an English couple in Laguna - debauched, illegal and on the run. She works in a gallery and he has affairs; he pilots a boat for a plastic surgeon and likes to watch her. When she thinks she has a stalker, he congratulates her on having 'this year's must-have accessory'. The cop they call in thinks he's dealing with a couple of English wackos with less than perfect teeth but he's damned if she isn't sexy as hell. Cue a spiral of violence, paranoia and death under the California sun...

Book Overview: The most powerful - and commercial - novel Denise Danks has written 'Danks brings all her writing skills to create a dark tale of voyeurism and betrayal, murder and attempted murder' Independent on Sunday 'Danks presents her psychological ciphers like a musical score which can only be solved by being played out ... Danks writes so well about men and women behaving badly that it all makes a sad and telling kind of sense' Literary Review 'The Queen of techno-crime deserts the world of computers for the steamier side of California, where a whacked-out pair of English drifters blend in completely, until death does them part. Hitchcock would have snapped this up' Daily Telegraph
