Author Bio
After finishing his education at the University of Hull John Baker managed a host of jobs, including delivering milk, working in a pigment factory, social work, ship brokering and as a computer consultant. He spent several years living and working in a social community on the North York moors, where he met his Norwegian wife. They travelled across Europe and lived together with their children in a barn in the South of France and then spent two years in Scandinavia before returning to the UK. Poet in the Gutter, the first novel in the Sam Turner series, was published by Gollancz in 1995 and followed twelve months later by Death Minus Zero. The third novel in the series, King of the Streets was published in 1998, and Walking with Ghosts appeared in 1999. John has received much critical praise for his novels and has been the recipient of two writer's bursaries from the Yorkshire Arts Association.
