Gardener's World began in 1969 and is the BBC's longest running gardening programme. What can be tricky months for the gardener in August and September are brought alive with the inclusion of tropical plants such as canna, agapanthus, angelica and cerinthes whilst the curtain drops in the autumn with asters and chrysanthemums. November and December too can be floriferous with Clematis cirrhosa, hellebores and cyclamen lightening dark corners. The book ends with a month-by-month index to flowering plants, listed by colour, and giving basic cultivation requirements to ensure the reader finds a plant suitable for their needs and in the colour spectrum required.
