From the author of People Like Us and The Two Mrs Grenvilles comes another novel of manners and morals set in the world of the wealthy and powerful. This time Dominick Dunne turns his attention to Los Angeles high society. Billionaire financier and art collector Jules Mendelson and his elegant and beautiful wife have long been the leaders of West Coast society, but their lives are disrupted when Pauline Mendelson's great friend Hector Paradiso is inexplicably murdered. An intricately-woven story of how the rich exert their power, no matter what the human price, this has been described as Dunne's most ambitious novel yet.
