Synopsis

"Philip's Encyclopedia 2007" has more than 20,000 entries in five useful sections: Identification Guide; A-Z Encyclopedia; History of the World; Ready Reference; and World Atlas. The 64-page Identification Guide contains over 1,000 colour illustrations, and providing a spread-by-spread overview of astronomy, the human body, mammals, birds, butterflies, and trees. The Guide enables readers to tell a kestrel from a harrier, spot the constellation of Cassiopeia, find the deltoid muscle, distinguish between a cypress tree and a yew, and know the difference between a fallow deer and a roe deer. The A-Z Encyclopedia includes over 13,000 concise, cross-referenced articles, with 1,500 colour illustrations and more than 1,500 links from from key articles to essential websites that act as portals for further research. The History of the World and Ready Reference sections have been revised and updated to include contemporary events and figures, and 2006's achievements in sports, arts, and science and technology. The 32-page World Atlas is generated from Philip's continuously-updated cartographic database, and has a comprehensive index of place names.
