Synopsis

This work offers a guided tour of our solar system and beyond, to the farthest reaches of the universe, illustrated with images from Hubble Space Telescope as well as large ground-based telescopes. The authors explain the broad concepts of astronomy before describing what may be seen with the naked eye and through a pair of binoculars or small telescope, suc h as planets, comets, galaxies and nebulae. Raman K. Prinja is a lecturer in astronomy/astrophysics at University College London and has written several articles and guides for young astronomers. Richard Ignace is a professional astronomer, currently working at the University of Iowa, having previously been based at the University of Glasgow.
