In beginning discussions of any phenomenon, Graham always proceeds from the basic to the more complex in a logical progression of the material. Concepts of interest to psychologists are emphasized, and there is a lower density of terms than in similar texts. Graham offers a framework for interpretation that accounts for most of the research presented. Conflicting theories are pieced together in a way that will make sense to students, showing how one subsumes the other, or how each applies under different conditions.
