The book is particularly well-suited as a teaching text since it provides about 100 examples, about 300 homework exercises, a thorough list of references, and, most important, clear and lucid explanations of the fundamental concepts in wireless communications...However, the book can also be valuable outside the classroom. In particular, Goldsmith provides discussion about the limitations and tradeoffs of wireless systems, as well as a view towards engineering solutions. Wireless Communications is a rare find: expansive but not shallow, current but coherent. This book is set up for education, with problem sets and excellent references, but it has a lot to offer the practicing engineer or researcher. The list of topics is exhaustive, including much of the most modern technology. This book would function well as a text for education, a reference for research, or good reading for someone interested in the field. Dr. Goldsmith's book strikes a nice balance of being mathematical while not being overly theoretical...This is an enjoyable and satisfying book for a nerd. It is possibly the best single book on wireless communication I have seen -- and I have seen many such books. I look forward to spending more time with this book. IEEE Microwave Magazine
